Item Description
Original Item: This is a very rare and seldom seen US WWII issued half-flap holster for the Smith & Wesson Victory model .38 caliber revolvers. This holster was only made by CRAIGHEAD of Denver, CO during 1943 and they are very rare. After the war, the holster was produced in larger numbers by Rock Island Arsenal and it was widely carried through Vietnam. WWII made examples are scarce and highly sought after by collectors. Many were also altered post war, like this one that now exhibits a lovely blackened finish.
The leather is in a beautiful aged condition, with some wear and damage to the leather on the edges. The lift-the-dot snap still works. Otherwise this is an excellent period of example of a highly desirable holster.
